John Edwards Nevada Rural Advisory Committee Announces Members, Chairs

Founder of Rural Nevada Democratic Caucus Dee Holzel will Serve as Chairwoman

Winnemucca, Nevada – The John Edwards campaign today announced its 64-member statewide rural advisory committee including Dee Holzel of Winnemucca, the committee's chair. Holzel is one of the founding members of the Rural Nevada Democratic Caucus.

The John Edwards Rural Advisory Committee supports Edwards' plans to restore economic fairness and create new jobs and businesses in rural America, help struggling counties and towns, and protect the rural way of life.

"John Edwards is a native of a small rural town. He understands the issues that affect our communities and our lives." Holzel said. "John Edwards also gives us the best chance to defeat the Republicans in the general election."

"We desperately need a president who will focus on our smaller rural communities and towns. I intend to be that president." Edwards said.

The committee includes representative from each of Nevada's 15 rural counties and parts of Clark County and advises the campaign on rural issues important to the state.

Edwards has proposed a comprehensive plan to invest in, create jobs and protect America's rural communities. To read the full plan visit: http://jre.gigliwood.com/issues/rural/.

Edwards has also proposed a Green Collar Jobs Initiative to train and employ at least 150,000 workers a year in new energy economy jobs. He will dedicate 50,000 Stepping Stone jobs to energy-related occupations. In addition, the Green Collar Jobs training initiative will work with employers, unions, community colleges and high schools to prepare and engage the next generation of workers.

Last week, during a trip to the state Edwards said rural Nevada would play a major role in the initiative due to its large amounts of renewable resources, particularly solar and geothermal energy.

The John Edwards Rural Advisory Committee is the latest of several upcoming endorsements for John Edwards from local issue groups.
