California State Senator Dr. Leland Yee Campaigns For Edwards In Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada – California State Senator Dr. Leland Yee today visited Las Vegas to campaign for Senator John Edwards. Senator Yee is one of the most prominent and powerful Asian American Democratic elected officials in the country.
During his visit Yee met with local community leaders and elected officials, helped build grassroots support in the Asian American community and spoke at the North Las Vegas Democratic Club.
"John Edwards is committed to the Asian American community and is the best candidate to lead America," Yee said. "He has been a leader on every major issue from Iraq to lobbyist reform to the environment and universal health care. John Edwards will fight to end the game in Washington and bring bold and transformational change to our country."
Senator Yee represents California's 8th State Senate district, which includes San Francisco and San Mateo County. He has been a leader in the California Senate and Assembly and is the president of the National Asian Pacific American Caucus of State Legislators.
Yee is the first Chinese American ever elected to the California State Senate and now serves as a member of the Senate leadership team as Assistant President pro Tempore. In the state Assembly, Dr. Yee became the first Asian Pacific American to be appointed Speaker pro Tempore, the number two position in the California State Assembly.
Yee is one of several "Leaders for One America" to visit Nevada and meet with individual local issue and community groups on behalf of Edwards. The Leaders for One America are high profile members of their communities who are bringing Edwards' message of bold change to voters.
